Six Flags Great America
Gurnee, Illinois
Six Flags Great America is a combination theme park and waterpark located near Chicago and Milwaukee that offers guests more than 75 attractions. The theme park features eight themed areas, each showcasing a different aspect of Americana. The adjacent 16-acre Six Flags Hurricane Harbor waterpark is included with park admission.
Guests to Six Flags Great America will love the park's impressive collection of amusement rides, including fourteen thrilling roller coasters. For families, the park offers a selection of nearly two-dozen rides and for young children, there are two areas designated just for them – Camp Cartoon and Kidzopolis.
The park offers many unique experiences and groundbreaking first of their kind rides, like the first inverted looping coaster Batman The Ride and the first announced wing coaster in North America X-Flight. From atop the 330-foot tall Sky Trek Tower, the tallest free-standing structure in Lake County, you can see Lake Michigan and the Chicago skyline.
Families can ride on the Whizzer, a landmark coaster that is the last of its kind in the world. Six Flags Great America also is home to the American Eagle, the world's tallest, fastest double racing wooden coaster. Plus, the double-decker Columbia Carousel is the largest in existence.
In 2011, the park expanded Six Flags Hurricane Harbor with the addition of Riptide Bay. This new 3-acre addition to the waterpark features side-by-side surf simulators and five exciting new slides.
