Sandy Lake Park is a family amusement park and picnic grounds near Dallas, Texas.
The origins of the park date back to 1971. Located on the shore of Sandy Lake surrounded by beautiful trees is the amusement park and picnic grounds. The property has an 18-hole miniature golf course, large swimming pool for the summer, video game arcade and a collection of amusement park rides. On sunny days paddle boats can been seen meandering about on Sandy Lake.
The family oriented amusement park has a collection of 20 rides for all ages. Six kiddie rides, some of them classics, are sized just right for the park's youngest visitors. Children under 48-inches can also ride one of the park's Shetland ponies on the Pony Ride. Each pony has its own quirky, funny name, based on the color of their hair, individual character or personality.
Families get to ride together on favorites like the Merry-Go-Round, Pretzel dark ride, miniature train and Little Dipper kiddie coaster. The lineup of thrill rides at the park includes old-time favorites like a Scrambler, Paratrooper, Tilt-A-Whirl, Rock-O-Plane and more.
Sandy Lake Park has earned a reputation as being the most complete picnic park in Dallas and caters to groups, family gatherings, birthday parties, schools and more. A variety of picnic pavilions can accommodate groups of different sizes. The park is also known for its all-you-can-eat hickory smoked Texas barbecue meal that is prepared on-site for picnic guests.
Sandy Lake Park is open to the public requiring only a nominal admission fee. Amusement park rides, paddle boats, miniature golf and swimming pool are priced individually. Refreshment stands with a variety of food and beverage choices are located throughout the park grounds.
