Playland

This government owned, historic amusement park is located on the waterfront of Westchester County, New York, just under an hour north of New York City.

Playland (aka Rye Playland) is one the oldest operating amusement parks in the country and unfortunately, is presently endangered due to the county governments unwillingness to properly manage the park operations.

This historic amusement park began in 1928 and is recognized as a National Historic Landmark and has been placed on the register of National Register of Historic Places as well. The gorgeous, well-landscaped grounds on this beachfront property provide a scenic setting for all to enjoy. The historic buildings throughout showcase the architectural styles like Art Deco and that of the late 19th and 20th century Revivals.

Playland is a living reminder of the past and should be considered a "must visit" for any amusement park fan. Adults and grandparents can bring their children and grandchildren here to experience the fun they enjoyed in their youth.

The park's lineup of amusement rides includes 26 family rides and thrill rides, including five roller coasters, plus an additional 21 rides and attractions in Kiddieland.

Playland is notable for its collection of rare amusement rides. This unique collection includes one of only three Derby Racers in existence, a wooden coaster from 1929 – Dragon –, a 1915 "Grand Carousel" from Mangels-Carmel, the Ye Old Mill tunnel of love dark ride and a fantastic kiddieland.

Every summer the park features a free concert series and over the years a number of top performers have headlined here. The park also features daily live entertainment, including DJs, performers, magicians and shows for children.

A nominal fee is charged for admission to Playland for non-residents. Rides are priced on a pay-as-you-go basis or you can purchase an unlimited ride wristband.
