Fantasy Forest
Queens, New York
Queens' only amusement park Fantasy Forest surrounds the historic Flushing Meadows Carousel. This amusement park has a variety of rides and attractions for all ages, but with an emphasis on rides for children ages 3 to 11.
The Flushing Meadows Carousel with 64 jumping horses, 7 standing horses, a menagerie animal, and two chariots is the main attraction at the park. This unique Carousel was created by merging two exiting ones from Coney Island– the 1903 Feltman Carousel and the 1908 Stubbman's Beer Garden Carousel. Both were purchased in 1963 and the combined Carousel operated for two years at the 1964 World's Fair.
Three years after the fair closed the Carousel found a new home in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park where it has entertained children and adults for more than four decades. In 2012 the Carousel underwent an extensive, year-long renovation that led to it becoming the centerpiece of New York's newest amusement park, Fantasy Forest.
Admission to Fantasy Forest is free with rides and games priced individually. On weekdays, non-holiday, the park sells an unlimited ride wristband. Free entertainment is also offered on Sundays and holidays from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
