Dollywood is a theme park located in Pigeon Forge that is owned by country western singer Dolly Parton and Herschend Family Entertainment. Located at the gateway to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park, this exciting and educational theme park helps thousands of visitors celebrate the rich, creative, musical culture of the locals.
The park's spectacular setting provides the perfect backdrop for a variety or rides, attractions, and live entertainment. Dollywood is a live demonstration of the culture, crafts, arts and music that is found in the surrounding area.
Opened in 1986 on the former site of Rebel Railroad Park, the park has increased in popularity over the years to become the number one attraction in Tennessee and offers a total of twenty-six rides with five roller coasters and four water rides.
Dollywood also is home to the Southern Gospel Museum and Hall of Fame and for those who love playing in the water, a Smoky Mountain them waterpark is located next door. The separate admission Splash Country Water Park has twenty-seven slides and rides to cool you off during the warm summer months.
The park is also home to a number of annual festivals and special events, including Harvest Celebration & Southern Gospel Jubilee and the popular holiday event – Smoky Mountain Christmas.
