Carowinds
Charlotte, North Carolina
Straddling the border of North Carolina and South Carolina is this amusement park and water park that is called the thrill capital of the Southeast. Carowinds features over 50 rides, shows, and attractions, including world-class roller coasters, an elaborate children's area with delightful rides with themes based on Snoopy and the PEANUTS™ gang, and an included 20-acre waterpark.
The park's rides and attractions are located in eight themed areas – Celebration Plaza, Carolina Boardwalk, Carousel Park, Thrill Zone, Blue Ridge Junction, Crossroads, County Fair, Camp Snoopy, and Carolina Harbor.
Thrill-seekers will find fourteen amazing roller coasters, like the amazing Fury 325– the fastest, longest and tallest coaster in the Southeast. There are also three classic wooden coasters, Nighthawk, a last of its kind flying coaster, and Afterburn, a fast and thrilling inverted, looping coaster.
Besides roller coasters, Carowinds ride lineup includes water rides like; Rip Roarin' Rapids, a drop tower, Southern Star looping starship, and the tallest ride ever built at the park – Windseeker – which provides amazing aerial views of the park and surrounding areas.
For children Camp Snoopy has a collection of rides each with a theme based on Snoopy and the rest of the PEANUTS™ characters. There are kid-sized roller coasters, family rides, an antique Carousel with hand-carved wooden horses and more.
Included with admission to Carowinds is Carolina Harbor a 20-acre waterpark. During the heat of summer the waterpark is the perfect place to cool off with not one, but two wave pools, an endless river, and a large collection of water slides and tube rides. The waterpark also has a three-story interactive water play structure and children's area with pools and fountains designed for infants and toddlers.
Every year for Halloween the park transforms into SCarowinds on select nights from late-September through October. On these evenings the park offers haunted attractions, including walk-through mazes, scare zones, and creepy entertainment.
