Adventureland
Farmingdale, New York
Celebrating its 50th anniversary, Adventureland has been Long Island's favorite amusement park since 1962. The park began on six-acres in Farmington with three rides, a small arcade and restaurant. Today, it is still family owned and operated, though twice the size and with ten times the number of rides.
While you may have never visited, it's likely you've seen the park before as the amusement park was the basis for the movie "Adventureland" (2009) and has been the backdrop for music videos from Chaka Khan and Kool & the Gang.
Adventureland offers 30 exciting rides, games, arcade and more to keep you entertained. This family-friendly amusement park has a collection of rides for thrill-seeking teenagers, families who like to ride together, and a selection of gentle, beginner rides for young children.
The Train continues to be one of the most popular rides at the park, taking you on a relaxing tour of the entire park. For the anniversary, Adventureland has enlarged the train station to better handle the crowds.
For thrill-seekers the Hurricane roller coaster is sure to please, as well as the whirling fun of the Frisbee thrill ride, the swinging Pirate Ship and the always lively and loud Musik Express. For those who love to get wet, the park has two log flumes –Adventure Falls and the Little Dipper.
Families will find a variety of rides they can all enjoy together. Adventureland has a great Antique Car ride, Ferris wheel, Wave Swinger and a double decker Merry-Go-Round. And for the park's youngest visitors, Kiddieland has nine rides, including spinning cars, a kiddie carousel, helicopters and small swings.
When it is time for a break the park has an air-conditioned, family-style restaurant serving a variety of food. Outdoors you'll find concession stands with popular amusement park fare and an outdoor food court. The park also has facilities for group and corporate outings, as well as birthday parties.
Admission to Adventureland is free. Parking is as well. Rides are priced on a pay-as-you-go basis or you can purchase a wristband good for unlimited rides.
