PETA Demanding Six Flags Suspend Cockroach Eating Contest

PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) is proving their craziness again by this time going to bat for one of the nastiest creatures alive, the cockroach.
This activist group is calling all Six Flags theme parks demanding that they cancel the live cockroach eating stunts that I thought were a great promotion for Six Flags. It certainly got the media's attention this past week.
A spokeswoman for PETA says they've been flooded with calls and e-mails from all around the country about this, which I find hard to believe. Have you met someone that loves cockroaches? Do you enjoy opening your food cabinet only to find one suddenly jumping at you?
PETA's argument just doesn't hold water when nearly an entire aisle at stores is full of products designed to kills these pests.
I think it's also important to point out that the cockroaches Six Flags planned to use are being raised for food. Some creature, somewhere is going to eat it. So does it really matter if it is a human being or something else?
I just hope that Six Flags doesn't take this bullying activist group seriously. Instead proceed with your promotion as planned and maybe even step it up a notch. Get RAID to become a sponsor and why not roll out some grills to BBQ some chicken and steaks during Fright Fest. It would certainly beat the usual theme park faire of hamburgers and hot dogs.
