Holiday Season Begins This Weekend at Many Six Flags Theme Parks

Grand Prairie, TX – Six Flags kicks of its annual holiday spectacular, Holiday in the Park, at many of its theme parks this weekend. The annual holiday event expands to two more parks this year – Six Flags America near Washington D.C. and Six Flags St. Louis in Eureka, Missouri.

From delicious holiday food to nighttime roller coaster rides and pictures with Santa, Holiday in the Park is the must-do experience this holiday season.

Now in its 31st season, Holiday in the Park, features
intricately-themed lighting displays, holiday entertainment and an expansive selection of specialty food offerings guaranteed to make the season merry and bright for every member of the family.

The celebration kicks off this Saturday, November 19 at Six Flags Fiesta Texas, Six Flags Great Adventure, Six Flags Magic Mountain, Six Flags Over Georgia and Six Flags Over Texas. The festivities begin on November 25 at Six Flags Discover Kingdom and Six Flags St. Louis and then on December 2 Six Flags Mexico begins the fun. Holiday in the Park runs on selected evenings.

This year Six Flags plans to attempt to break a Guinness World Records title for "Most couples kissing under the mistletoe" at seven of the participating parks. The record, set in 2015, is currently held by Six Flags Over Georgia.

Festive decor and millions of lights will dazzle guests at nine Six Flags Theme Park locations during the annual Holiday in the Park celebration.

"Our guests tell us that Holiday in the Park is one of their favorite times of the year to visit with family and friends and we are thrilled to expand this magical event to Six Flags America and Six Flags St. Louis," said Tom Iven, Six Flags senior vice president of U.S. operations. "From delicious holiday food to nighttime coaster rides and pictures with Santa, Holiday in the Park is the must-do experience of the holiday season."

Each park will be decorated with millions upon millions of dazzling lights, choreographed lighting packages and beautifully decorated holiday-themed sections, plus towering Christmas trees lit up and dressed with holiday décor.

New for 2016, Six Flags Magic Mountain will introduce a new Holiday themed Virtual Reality experience called "Santa's Wild Sleigh Ride" on the New Revolution roller coaster.

Additional Holiday in the Park offerings include family activities like cookie-decorating, ornament-making, and face-painting. Wood-burning fire pits, perfect for making s'mores and keeping warm and toasty during nighttime visits.

Holiday photo locations will feature Santa, Mrs. Claus, antique sleighs, giant candy canes and life-size nutcrackers. Each park will also offer a menu of seasonal food and beverage choices, plus an assortment of holiday merchandise.

This season seven Six Flags parks will also attempt to break the Guinness World Record title for "Most couples kissing under the mistletoe". Six Flags Over Georgia currently holds the title, set in 2015. On December 10 guests at Six Flags Over Georgia, Six Flags Over Texas, Six Flags Fiesta Texas, Six Flags St. Louis, Six Flags Magic Mountain, Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, and Six Flags Great Adventure may participate in the attempt.
