Dorney Park To Erect Relocated Invertigo Roller Coaster

Allentown, PADorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom confirmed they will debut their eighth roller coaster for the 2012 season. Stinger, a 138-foot tall inverted, shuttle roller coaster will flip riders upside down six times as they race along 1,014 feet of steel track at speeds of up to 55 miles-per-hour.

Stinger is a "face-to-face" roller coaster experience with individual cars that seat riders back-to-back, so that most riders face another. The exception is the front and back rows.

The experience begins when the train is pulled out of the station up a 138-foot lift. Reaching the end, the train is released and descends the lift passing through the station to enter a double cobra roll inversion and vertical loop before ending with an ascent up a second lift at the opposing end. After the ascent, the train is released again to repeat the course in reverse.

This Vekoma designed "Invertigo" roller coaster was formerly an attraction at California's Great America. The $10 million ride has been shipped to Dorney Park where it will be reassembled for the 2012 season.

Stinger will have a minimum height requirement of 54 inches.
