Historic Lakeside Cyclone Roller Coaster Reopens

Denver, CO — The historic Cyclone roller coaster at Denver's Lakeside amusement park will reopen tonight for its first riders this summer. The 69-year-old wooden coaster was closed all summer while the park performed repairs and renovations in advance of the ride's 70th birthday next year.

Cyclone has been the flagship attraction at Lakeside amusement park since its debut in 1940.

This 90-foot tall traditional out and back wooden coaster is designated an "ACE Classic Coaster" by the American Coaster Enthusiasts, a designation reserved for rides of historical significance.
