First Seats On Prowler Roller Coaster Now Up For Auction

Kansas City -- Worlds of Fun amusement park has teamed up with KCTV 5 and Susan G. Komen Kansas City to fight breast cancer with a first rider auction for the park's new Prowler roller coaster.

Bidding for 18 pairs of seats has begun and all proceeds from the auction will benefit Komen Kansas City for the Cure. Bids start at $100 and the auction ends at 10:00 am on Wednesday, April 22, 2009.

The first official rides will take place on Saturday, May 2, 2009, the grand opening of Prowler.

Bids can be placed on worldsoffun.com. A pair of seats will also be given away to a lucky winner through KCTV 5's Weather Blog.

Winning bidders will be among the first in the world to ride the Prowler wooden coaster. Winners will also receive a pair of commemorative first rider tickets, recognition at the ride, two admissions to enjoy the rest of the day, two 2009 Good-Any-Day tickets and special park gifts.

KCTV 5 Chief Meteorologist Katie Horner and staff members of Komen Kansas City will be amongst the first riders.

Prowler is the seventh roller coaster at Worlds of Fun. The $8 million custom build wooden coaster spans 3,074 feet through wooded terrain in Worlds of Fun's Africa section.

The two-and-a-half minute, high-speed ride begins with a swooping 85-foot plummet followed by a seemingly endless amount of high-speed hills and sharply banked turns that hug the terrain below.
