Erie, PA -- Bid now to be the first to ride the Ravine Flyer II roller coaster at Waldameer Park. The long awaited wooden roller coaster designed and built by The Gravity Group will open Saturday, May 17.
Construction of the roller coaster has been completed and testing is now underway according to The Gravity Group.
As part of the opening celebration on Saturday, May 17, the park is selling the 24 seats on the first train in an online auction to benefit Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International.
Bidding is currently underway and bids can be placed online at coaster.vertasource.com. The auction ends on Wednesday, May 14 at 11:59 pm ET.
Ravine Flyer II is the largest wooden coaster project in the US this year. This 3,000 foot long roller coaster begins with a 120-foot drop at a 60-degree angle, features ten crossovers, six tunnels and reaches speeds of up to 60 miles per hour.
Waldameer Park will open the Ravine Flyer II to the public at noon Saturday. Ride tickets will be sold for $4.50 each with $3.50 of every ticket donated to JDRF.
Riders must be at least 48 inches tall.
Waldameer Park will be open Saturday and Sunday, May 17 and 18 from 12:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
