Oklahoma City -- Frontier City announced plans for a new roller coaster to celebrate the theme park's 50th anniversary this summer. Steel Lasso, a suspended roller coaster, will be the first of its kind in the state of Oklahoma.
This junior suspended roller coaster will stand 49-feet tall and span 965-feet. One train suspended from the overhead tubular steel track will seat 16-passengers in eight cars. The roller coaster will reach speeds of up to 30 miles per hour.
According to Frontier City, construction is expected to begin soon and Steel Lasso will open sometime this summer. The roller coaster is being custom made for the park by Vekoma.
Steel Lasso is estimated to be a several million-dollar investment for Frontier City and will bring the park's total number of roller coasters to five.
