Santa Claus, IN -- Holiday World & Splashin' Safari has recently been receiving some national media attention. The Indiana theme park and water park are featured in a national magazine and major television network show.
The December issue of Family Circle features an article about the Koch family as part of the magazine's ongoing "My Hometown" series.
"An editor from the magazine contacted us back in the summer," says Holiday World & Splashin' Safari president Will Koch. "My wife, Lori, spoke with the editor several times, telling her all about our festive hometown."
The article includes information about the town of Santa Claus, nearby Lincoln City, the upcoming "Christmas in Santa Claus" festival, Jasper's Schnitzelbank Restaurant, plus Holiday World & Splashin' Safari. Family Circle magazine has a monthly circulation of 3.9 million.
In addition, a video shot at Holiday World back in May by a crew from NBC's popular "Deal or No Deal" game show is currently available to view on the "Deal" website.
The network crew spent several days visiting the town of Santa Claus during a "national road trip" to catch up with the show's most popular contestants. Skip Allen, the general manager of Santa's Lodge, won $136,000 on the episode that aired on Christmas Day last year. Allen, his family, and the video crew spent the day riding rides at Holiday World, including a front-seat ride for Allen on The Voyage wooden roller coaster with Santa Claus himself. The video also includes rides on Raging Rapids, Liberty Launch, Turkey Whirl and HallowSwings.
Holiday World & Splashin' Safari will reopen for the 2008 season in May.
