New Jersey's Steel Pier To Operate For Another Season

Atlantic City, NJ -- Steel Pier amusement park will operate for the 2007 season despite the previous announcement that last summer would be its last.

The pending closure of the Atlantic City landmark has been delayed for at least a year.

Trump Entertainment Resorts, which owns Steel Pier, announced its closure summer while stating its intention to redevelop the Pier. Trump is planning to replace the amusement park with a hotel, condos and new restaurants.

Steel Pier has a long history in Atlantic City having been part of the boardwalk since 1898.

The amusement park plans to reopen on Easter Sunday for what will likely be its final season.
