Gurnee, IL — Halloween is the time of year for ghosts, goblins, creepy critters and of course, treats. So to celebrate Six Flags has a new treat for its 16th annual Fright Fest event. Guests who accept the challenge to eat a live cockroach will get a treat, a Ticket to Terror that will send you to the front of the line for their favorite ride or attraction at Six Flags Great America.
It's a disgusting challenge, but Six Flags will probably find a number of guests willing to accept the challenge.
So are you ready to eat your way to the front of the line?
According to Six Flags you'll have to be quick. A cockroach can run at a speed of up to three miles per hour. If you're health conscious, you won't have to break the diet. Cockroaches are extremely low in fat and high in protein.
If one cockroach isn't enough then you're invited to eat as many as you want when Six Flags attempts to break a world record for eating cockroaches. On Friday the 13th before a live park audience, Six Flags Great America will hold a contest to see who can eat the most cockroaches in just one minute.
Current world record holder Ken Edwards of Derbyshire, England will be there to try to beat his own record. Edwards managed to devour 36 hissing Madagascar cockroaches in just one minute.
If you enjoy eating cockroaches and want to attempt to beat Edwards then Six Flags invites you to be at the Mission stage in the Southwest section of the park on Friday, September 13 at 7:00 pm.
The winner might break a world record, but along with bragging rights, Six Flags Great America will give them four 2007 season passes and four Fast Passes to the front of select ride lines will give them VIP status during their visits.
Fright Fest at Six Flags Great America begins Saturday, October 7 and continues every Friday, Saturday and Sunday through October 29. The park is also open on Monday, October 9.
