Dollywood's Splash Country Announces $2.75 Million Addition

Dollywood's Splash Country Water ParkPigeon Forge, TN -- Visitors to Dollywood's Splash Country in 2007 will have the opportunity to explore The Cascades, the water park's new $2.75 million leisure pool.

The project represents the largest capital investment in Dollywood's Splash Country's history. The water park opened in May 2001.

"The Cascades takes me back to my childhood when me and my brothers and sisters were lucky enough to discover a little mountain cove where we could cool off from the summertime heat," Dolly Parton said. "We'd keep that swimming hole a secret as long as we could, but I'm looking forward to sharing The Cascades with everybody!"

Offering a unique blend of adventure and tranquility, The Cascades expansion features a lagoon-style, 7,500-sq.-ft., beach-entry pool. Surrounded by the lush landscaping of trees and plants, the pool's centerpiece is a waterfall that spills from a giant rock grotto. In addition, guests will feel the refreshing effects of 20-foot water sprays from a geyser situated on the pool's edge. The Cascades' 25 interactive elements include four slides that weave throughout the grotto. Younger guests will discover a series of small coves around the pool's perimeter filled with slides, misters, bubblers and "lily pads."

For relaxing, The Cascades offers a contoured seating area as well as a 24,000-sq.-ft. tiered deck space with chaise lounge chairs. Eight Waterside Retreats, cabana-style units with such amenities as cable television and pool-side food and beverage service, will be available for rent.

Dollywood's Splash Country is a 30-acre water adventure park located adjacent to Dollywood theme park. Situated in a wooded mountain setting, Dollywood's Splash Country also features the white water rafting adventure ride Big Bear Plunge, the Downbound Float Trip lazy river, two interactive children's play areas and 25 additional water adventure slides. This year marks the second time Dollywood's Splash Country was recognized by the Travel Channel as one of the country's top ten water parks. In 2001, Dollywood's Splash Country was named the World Waterpark Association's Best New Water Park in America. The park operates from late May through late September.
