Bessemer, AL -- Visionland amusement park is now to be called "Alabama Adventure". The name change announced Monday is part of a multi-million dollar planned expansion of the property.
Southland Entertainment Group based in California purchased Visionland three years ago after the park initially failed. The name change was part of the company's plan for the amusement park.
Over the past three years Southland invested $20 million in new attractions at Magic Adventure theme park and Splash Beach waterpark. Recently additions include the wave pool and looping roller coaster.
Future plans for Alabama Adventure include the addition of an indoor waterpark, animal park, RV park, sports complex and more.
Alabama Adventure opens for the 2006 season on April 22.
