New Orleans, LA -- Six Flags announced that it will not open its New Orleans theme park for the 2006 season. The park sustained severe damage caused by Hurricane Katrina last August.
Six Flags said that it is working with its insurance company to assess the full extent of the damage and at this time it has no plans to reopen the New Orleans theme park.
The company said that its full-time employees may be offered positions at other parks if they are willing to relocate. Until now, Six Flags has kept its full-time staff on the payroll.
The park's general manager has been moved to Six Flags America in Maryland.
