Idlewild To Expand Waterpark For 2006 Season

Ligonier, PA -- Idlewild & SoakZone theme park today announced that its 2006 season of summer fun will set sail with Captain Kidd's Adventure Galley. The million-dollar expansion project, first announced last summer, will enlarge SoakZone by more than twenty percent and is highlighted by the previously unnamed pirate-themed Aquaplay structure.

Some of the highlights of Captain Kidd's Adventure Galley include several wet, wild and fun offerings such as:

  • Six water slides ranging in length from 19 to 130 feet
  • A multilevel design featuring crawl tunnels, net climbs, and bridges
  • A giant tipping bucket holding up to 500 gallons of water
  • 88 water spray features including water guns, water curtain, tipping cones, spray jets, water wheel and more

"Captain Kidd's Adventure Galley will be unlike any other Pennsylvania theme park attraction and it will be a big hit with our waterpark-loving guests," said Brandon Leonatti, general manager. "Families will love Captain Kidd's because it appeals to different age groups and skill levels. The higher one climbs, the more challenging and interesting the water slides become."

The expansion will also include a large family lounging area and a new pirate-themed gift area.
