Fun Plex Seeking Permit To Build Roller Coaster

Omaha, NE -- Fun Plex is going before the City of Omaha Zoning Board of Appeals Thursday to obtain approval to build a 90-foot tall roller coaster. Fun Plex located near 70th and Q in Omaha is the largest amusement park and water park in Nebraska.

If built the new attraction would coincide with the park's 30th anniversary in 2006. According to the park the roller coaster would stand nine stories, have 2,300-feet of steel track and cost about $2 million.

The last roller coaster to operate in Omaha was at Peony Park, which closed in the early 1990's.

If Fun Plex is granted the approval construction will begin this fall.
