Madison, WI -- Great Wolf Resorts announced plans to develop an additional 100 guest suites at the company's recently-opened Great Wolf Lodge in Williamsburg, Virginia. The planned expansion also includes multiple new attractions within the waterpark.
"This is the first indoor waterpark resort of its kind in the eastern U.S. and we expected it would be highly successful," said John Emery, chief executive officer. "The possibility for expansion was something we began considering even before the property opened."
The Williamsburg resort opened in March.
The expansion will consist of approximately 100 additional guest suites in a variety of room styles, including a new premium suite style that combines features of the resort's most popular guest suites - the larger, two-bedroom style and the kids-themed suite. That new room style will help accommodate families wanting both a themed room experience and the larger, two-bedroom layout. Expansion plans for the existing 55,000 square-foot waterpark include at least three new rides.
"The new waterpark attractions will accommodate the increased occupancy of the lodge," explained Kim Schaefer, chief operating officer. "Because the waterpark is built for the exclusive use of our guests, the addition of new attractions allows us to maintain the comfortable capacity our guests expect in a safe, fun atmosphere for the entire family."
Construction for the expansion is scheduled to start in Fall 2005 with expected completion in Fall 2006.
