Pigeon Forge, TN -- Dolly Parton kicked off her theme park's 20th anniversary season platinum style on April 1. In grand fashion befitting the entertainment legend, Parton gifted approximately 1,600 Dollywood guests gathered for a special 20th anniversary event in DP's Celebrity Theatre with Platinum passes.
The passes each are valid for 20 years and valued at approximately $5,000 each. The Platinum pass provides each recipient with unlimited access to Dollywood and Dollywood's Splash Country, along with free parking and additional park discounts.
According to the park the gift is valued at approximately $8 million.
Parton also took the opportunity to unveil the park's newest additions, including ten new family rides in Dollywood's Country Fair.
Dollywood also has a full lineup of entertainment for the 20th anniversary season. Performing now through May 8 is the world-renowned Moscow Circus, headliners of this year's Festival of Nations.
KidsFest June 17 - August 7 has new offerings with Clifford the Big Red Dog Live stage show and the introduction of Dolly's Imagination Playhouse featuring the stage productions based on the stories of three books from Parton's Imagination Library.
Kicking off the fall will be the new National Music & Harvest Celebration from September 23 - October 29. The celebration features 38 days of free concerts by country, bluegrass, Southern gospel and Americana artists.
Dollywood's annual Smoky Mountain Christmas festival from November 5 - December 30 will feature the International Sounds of Christmas, a series of special performances by the von Trapp Children, the Moscow Boys Choir, Michael Londra in A Celtic Yuletide and Christmas Around the World by Vinok Worldance.
