Conneaut Lake Park Approved To Open For 2005 Season

Conneaut Lake, PA -- Financially troubled Conneaut Lake Park received some good news last week. Crawford County Judge Anthony Vardaro gave final approval for the 113-year old amusement park to reopen Memorial Day.

Don Kaltenbaug, chief executive and Abe Finton, president of the board of trustees, said the park has been preparing for the upcoming season, but there is much left to be done before the traditional Memorial Day weekend opening.

Now that the business plan is approved the park can proceed with work to get ready to open, commented Finton.

During the court hearing the park outlined its operating plans including its intention to lease the Beach Club and Down Under Bar to a group of local businessmen. The partnership will take over operations of those two establishments for the next three years and make advance lease payments giving Conneaut Lake Park the capital it needs to reopen.
