Disneyland Paris To Build New Rides For Both Parks

Cedex, France -- Disneyland Paris announced that they will invest 240 million Euro for new rides at both Disneyland Paris and the Walt Disney Studios theme parks. The new attractions include the Tower of Terror ride and new Toon Studios land both to be built at the Walt Disney Studios Park, plus a Buzz Lightyear interactive dark ride for Disneyland Park.

Buzz Lightyear's Laser Blast is slated to open in 2006 at Disneyland Paris. The new interactive dark ride features characters from Pixar's Toy Story films. In the ride guests will help Buzz Lightyear defeat the evil Emperor Zurg to prevent the theft of the galaxy's stock of batteries.

The interactive ride will seat two participants in a vehicle equipped with dual laser pistols and direction controls so guests may spin their spaceships around a full 360-degrees. Guests will use the laser pistols to blast targets placed throughout the attraction.

Tower of Terror is already a hit ride at both Disney MGM Studios in Orlando and Disney's California Adventure in Anaheim. The new Tower of Terror ride for Walt Disney Studios Park will open in 2008.

Placed on a production courtyard the new Tower of Terror will feature an atmospheric lobby and library and a thrilling 13-story, faster-than-gravity fall in a service elevator.

In addition to the Tower of Terror, Walt Disney Studios Park will get a new themed land called Toon Studios. This new land will offer guests a look at the backstage activity of their favorite Disney characters. Toon Studios will open in 2007.
