Knott's Coaster Reopens After State Declares Safe

Buena Park, CA -- Knott's Berry Farm reopened the Montezooma's Revenge roller coaster Thursday after state investigators declared the ride mechanically safe. The ride was closed for an investigation after a 25-year old female died following a ride last Friday.

Following an inspection by the state Department of Occupational Safety and Health the 23-year old roller coaster was deemed mechanically sound and safe to operate on Wednesday.

Knott's reopened the roller coaster Thursday morning when the park opened the gates at 10 a.m.

On Thursday the Orange County coroner's office released a statement stating that the 25-year old female died of a brain aneurysm that ruptured early Saturday morning. The autopsy report indicates that the aneurysm was a pre-existing condition simply aggravated by, but not caused by the ride on the roller coaster.
