Three Parks Likely to Join Six Flags Brand

Oklahoma City, OK -- Premier Parks, Inc. parent company of Six Flags Theme Parks is expected to rename three of the company's amusement parks to the Six Flags brand for the 2000 season.

The company is expected to make an official announcement within the next month, but sources have informed us that they are planning to rename Riverside the Thrill Park in Agawam, Massachusetts and Geauga Lake in Aurora, Ohio to the Six Flags brand.

Last week Premier announced along with an agreement to use the Warner Bros. characters internationally, that it will rename Reino Aventura theme park to the Six Flags brand in 2000. Reino Aventura located in Mexico City will be the first Six Flags theme park outside of the U.S.

Along with the name changes at all three parks, industry analysts expect Premier to make a large investment at each park in improvements and new rides to go along with the name changes.

Local news sources in Massachusetts have already reported that Premier is making plans to invest nearly $25-million in new rides at Riverside Park.

According to the report Riverside is planning to build two new roller coasters, along with a dozen or more flat rides to be constructed on the site of the former Riverside raceway. The park is currently seeking the approval of the local government to begin construction.

Analysts also expect that Premier will make a large investment in improvements and new rides for Geauga Lake. The parks two main competitors, Cedar Point and Paramount's Kings Island have already announcement major new roller coasters for the 2000 season.

According to sources Premier is likely to respond with a sizeable investment in new rides and possibly two new roller coasters, including one from popular Swiss designers Bolliger and Mabillard.
