Dorney Park Is Ready To Open the Dominator

Allentown, PA -- Dorney Park is ready to unveil their newest high thrills' attraction, the Dominator this weekend. The new attraction will premier to the public on the parks first day of the season.

Last weekend some of the parks' employees were given the opportunity to try out the parks new ride. Those who were fortunate enough to ride described the ride as "incredibly thrilling" and "awesome!" From the response of the employees it seems that the Dominator is sure to be a hit with the guests.

The Dominator is a 200-foot tall, three-tower structure featuring two gravity-defying thrill rides. One of the towers features a Space Shot ride, where 12-riders will be suddenly blasted upwards at speeds of up to 50 mph, to a height of 160 feet.

On another tower riders will board the Turbo Drop ride, where they will be hoisted up 175 feet before blasting downwards at speeds of up to 40 mph. Both rides use compressed air to power the attraction.

A total of twelve passengers may ride either of the attractions at one time. Riders will sit in outward-facing, open-air seats with their backs to the towers and their legs left dangling.

S&S Sports Tower, Inc. of Provo, Utah custom designed the Dominator for Dorney Park. The attraction has a capacity of 900 riders per hour and a total ride time between 30 and 40 seconds. Riders must be at least 52" tall in shoes to ride.

Both the Dominator and Dorney Park will open for the 1999 season this Saturday, May 8.
