Orlando, FL - Sources at Universal are reporting that the technical rehearsal currently in progress at the new Islands of Adventure theme park in Orlando, may continue until July.
According to sources all of the attractions at the park will be open by mid-May, but several of them are not yet running up to speed. During the technical rehearsal or soft opening, guests visiting are informed in advance that some attractions may open and close throughout the day without notice.
The soft opening gives the park the opportunity to work the bugs out of the attractions without disappointing the guests. Once the park officially opens, guests will expect all attractions to be up and running without problems.
Park management has yet to announce an official opening date for Islands of Adventure. Management has stated that they will wait until the park is ready. They do not wish to repeat the problems that occurred on the opening day of sister-park Universal Studios Florida.
Last week we confirmed that media week scheduled for May 10-12 will go on as planned. According to a source, the park and all attractions will be ready for the three-day media event.
Those wishing to visit Islands of Adventure during the "soft opening" may do so by purchasing a "sneak preview" ticket along with a one-day ticket to Universal Studios Florida or you can purchase a two-park annual pass. The sneak preview ticket is currently priced at $24.95 plus tax. Pricing is subject to change without notice.
