Cedar Point Debuts World's Tallest, Fastest Roller Coaster

Sandusky, OH -- You have to see this thing to believe it! Cedar Point, voted the "Best Amusement Park in the World," will stun thrill-seekers everywhere when the historic amusement park/resort unveiled the highly anticipated Millennium Force, the tallest and fastest roller coaster in the world, on its Opening Day of the 2000 season, Saturday, May 13.

Spanning a massive 13 acres, the behemoth Millennium Force looms a stratospheric 310 feet tall, travels a blazing 92 mph over 6,595 feet of steel track, has a monstrous 300-foot drop at an extraordinary 80-degree angle and is the first roller coaster on planet Earth to break the elusive 300-foot-tall barrier.

At $25 million, Millennium Force is the largest single investment in the 130-year history of Cedar Point and is part of an unprecedented $48 million investment program at the ultra-popular park; plus shatters an amazing 10 world records and is Cedar Point's 14th roller coaster and 68th ride - home to more roller coasters and more rides than any other place in the universe.

Termed a "giga-coaster" - for its extreme height - Millennium Force is the first roller coaster in the world to use an elevator cable system, which carries the coaster's trains up the staggering 310-foot-high lift hill; and uses the latest design in roller-coaster-seating where the second row of seats are tiered above the first row on each car (similar to cinema seating).
