Gurnee, IL - March 24, 1999--Officials for Six Flags Great America have confirmed that the park will be installing metal detectors for the 1999 season. The devices used for security have now been installed at almost every park owned by Premier Parks, Inc.
According to park officials the metal detectors will be used as an extra device to ensure that the park remains safe. A park source confirmed that the decision to add the detectors was not made because of any past incidents in the park.
Six Flags officials stated that the metal detectors will not be intrusive and will be built into the theme of the park entrance. The new detectors are expected to be in place by the start of the summer season.
