Las Vegas, NV -- Soon Las Vegas visitors will have one more attraction to add to the growing list of thrill rides on the Las Vegas strip. The NASCAR cafe opening today is set to unveil their new high-tech attraction Speed the Ride later this spring.
This new high-speed roller coaster adventure will blast 24 riders out of the Nascar Cafe, to scream along the Las Vegas strip at speeds of up to 70 mph. Speed The Ride is custom designed by Premier Rides, Inc. and will use state-of-the-art linear induction motors (LIM's) to propel the nine-ton, six-car train.
The initial launch out of the NASCAR Cafe will shoot the trains from 0 to 45 mph in just two seconds. A second set of LIM's later on the track will put the trains to full motion, a speed of up to 70 mph.
This exciting thrill ride will follow a course along the outside of the Sahara Hotel and feature a vertical loop, underground tunnel and a fantastic finale by peaking out at 224-feet on a 90-degree sky bound spike.
But to the unsuspecting the ride will offer an extra surprise. Speed The Ride will conclude when the coaster train reverses directions and floors the pedal to the metal to repeat the course, this time in reverse.
The new 75,000 square foot NASCAR Cafe will open to the public today featuring an all-American menu. The restaurant theme and entertainment will include authentic NASCAR Winston Cup cars, racing memorabilia, giant projection television screens with surround sound and racecar simulators.
Speed The Ride will also be themed after NASCAR racing and will open later this spring.
