Tampa, FL -- Busch Gardens Tampa closed the new Rhino Rally attraction after one of the Land Rover vehicles fell over Tuesday. The accident occurred at approximately 6:30 p.m. and two individuals were taken to a local hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
According to reports sixteen passengers were on board when the vehicle tipped over on to its right side. The passengers left the vehicle and the driver called for assistance. The incident occurred in the rhino habitat.
Deidre Shellman of Tampa and Saul Soto of Orlando were treated for minor injuries at a local hospital and released.
Rhino Rally opened a month ago at Busch Gardens Tampa. The new attraction uses custom-built Land Rover vehicles to drive guests through live animal exhibits. The excitement peaks when the vehicle faces a sudden flash flood that sends the vehicle cascading down a turbulent river on a washed-out pontoon bridge section.
Park officials announced that Rhino Rally is to remain closed until they determine why the vehicle fell over.
