Buena Park, CA -- Construction walls are up around the closed Windjammer roller coaster at Knott's Berry Farm. The dual-track racing steel coaster closed in February 2000 after park officials decided that it no longer lived up to park standards.
According to reports Knott's is preparing to disassemble the coaster and it will be sent to another park outside of the United States.
A month after the coaster closed the park filed suit against the manufacture Togo of Japan citing numerous design problems with the ride. There was no official word on the outcome of the lawsuit and sources say the park reached a settlement.
With the construction walls up rumors have begun to speculate on what Knott's may be planning for 2002. With the ACE (American Coaster Enthusiasts) annual summer convention coming to Southern California next summer, many are speculating that the new attraction will be a major new roller coaster.
Sources have confirmed the relocation of the Headspin, a "Scrambler" spinning ride located underneath the Windjammer structure. The ride is slated to be relocated to a new spot near Big Foot Rapids.
