West Mifflin, PA -- The Old Mill, a classic Kennywood ride turned 100 Saturday and members of the Dark Rides and Funhouse Enthusiasts came out to celebrate. The historic ride takes riders in a boat through a water canal inside a dark tunnel.
Kennywood is home to many classic attractions including three wooden roller coasters, the Jack Rabbit, Thunderbolt and the Racer. The Old Mill is one of the last remaining attractions of its kind and was previously called the Haunted Hideaway and Panama Canal.
The Old Mill ride at Playland Park in Rye, New York continues to operate and has been receiving some special treatment lately. The Sally Corp, a company specializing in dark rides has been heading up a two-phase rehab of the attraction. The initial phase was just recently completed and the second phase will be completed for the 2002 season.
