Thrill Ride Collapses at Michigan's Adventure Park

Muskegon, MI -- A serious accident on the "Chaos" spinning ride at Michigan's Adventure injured two dozen people and left others stranded while rescue works secured the broken ride.

According to reports the spinning ride broke off its axle just before 7:00 p.m. Monday evening with 36-passengers on board. Rescue workers who responded to the scene had to use a crane to stabilize the ride before evacuating the riders.

Helicopters and ambulances were brought to the scene to rush the injured to local hospitals. Fortunately, no one was killed and there were only a few serious injuries.

Local hospitals reported that most of the patients suffered minor injuries as a result of the accident.

Witnesses reported that the wheel (ride platform) suddenly broke free, fell to the ground and nearly spun away.

The "Chaos" is a popular spinning attraction manufactured by Chance Rides for amusement parks and traveling fairs. The cause of the failure is unknown and an investigation has begun.

It is likely that the "Chaos" ride will be closed at other amusement parks until a cause for the accident is determined.
