Oklahoma City, OK -- America Online, Inc. and Six Flags, Inc., the world's largest regional theme park company, announced a strategic alliance under which America Online will be promoted through Six Flags theme parks, advertising and other offline channels; the companies will offer new benefits to AOL members, including ticket giveaways and discounts; and Six Flags' Web site will be prominently promoted across several AOL brands.
Under the agreement, Six Flags will promote America Online across its offline marketing channels, including park guidebooks, AOL sponsorship of certain rides and attractions, and promotion of America Online Keyword: Six Flags, in Six Flags' television advertising. Six Flags will also distribute AOL software as its exclusive online service offering in theme parks across the US.
Together, Six Flags and America Online will hold a large ticket giveaway promotion for AOL members, commencing this summer, and Six Flags will develop family savings offerings for AOL members.
In addition, the Six Flags Web site, www.sixflags.com, will be prominently promoted across several America Online, Inc. brands, including AOL, CompuServe, Digital City, and Six Flags will be integrated into AOL Moviefone's Summer Movie Fun Park as its official theme park sponsor. Through these promotions, the more than 25 million AOL and CompuServe members and the tens of millions of additional users of AOL's Web-based brands will be able to quickly and easily access information about Six Flags' rides and attractions, directions to parks, information about vacations, and much more.
Bob Pittman, President and Chief Operating Officer, America Online, Inc. said, "Six Flags has been a great marketing partner of ours in the past, and this new agreement will bring even more benefits to our similar audiences. Like AOL, Six Flags believes in providing families with a fun, community experience--that's why their parks are so popular."
"The powerful combination of the AOL and Six Flags brands offers significant mutual benefits," said Kieran Burke, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Six Flags, Inc. "Promoting Six Flags across AOL's brands can drive attendance and revenues at our parks. More and more, our customers are looking online before coming to visit our parks and we couldn't ask for a better partner in promoting Six Flags online than AOL. We look forward to working with AOL to make this a very successful alliance."
