Cedar Point to Celebrate First July 4th of the Millennium

Sandusky, OH -- Cedar Point amusement park/resort is set to usher in the first Independence Day of the new millennium with its best fireworks display ever on Tuesday, July 4 at 10:45 p.m. Produced by the world-famous Zambelli Internationale, Inc., New Castle, Pa., Cedar Point's annual fireworks extravaganza will entertain guests with a 20-minute patriotic salute.

The best place to view the fireworks will be along the main midway, near Kiddy Kingdom and the Raptor. Another great way to enjoy the fireworks display is aboard the Harbour Belle excursion boat's Fourth of July evening cruise. The 125-passenger ship will depart the Cedar Point Marina at 9 p.m. and return at 11 p.m. The price is $19.95 for guests 48 inches and taller and $5 for guests who are under 48 inches tall. Children age 3 and under are free. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 419.627.2334.

Kicking off the Fourth of July evening festivities will be the high-energy show, "Jump, Jive & Jam." Located directly in front of the laser show screen, between Iron Dragon and WildCat, this party band will perform your all-time favorite songs from the Î50s through the Î90s on an outdoor stage. "Jump, Jive & Jam" is sponsored by FirstEnergy, the official energy supplier of Cedar Point, and is performed nightly July 1 through Aug. 20. (The show is off on Wednesdays.)

Following "Jump, Jive & Jam" will be the new and updated "Cedar Point Summer Spectacular," a nighttime laser, light and sound show presented by FirstEnergy. This fast-paced visual and audio show, with an all-new digital projection system, cutting-edge art and digitized video backgrounds, begins at 10 p.m. and is shown nightly through Aug. 20, plus Saturday, Aug. 26 and Sept. 1-3.

Also, beginning Sunday, July 2 and continuing through Saturday, Aug. 19, the park will be open an hour longer each evening. Tuesday, July 4 and Saturdays July 8 through Aug. 19, Cedar Point will be open until midnight, while Sundays through Fridays, the park will remain open until 11 p.m.
