Six Flags To Build Second Coaster at Fiesta Texas

San Antonio, TX -- Six Flags Fiesta Texas will build a second new roller coaster for the upcoming 2000 season. The Boardwalk Canyon Blaster will be themed and designed especially for youngsters and their parents. Classified as a "family ride", the new steel coaster will feature several dips and eight turns. Boardwalk Canyon Blaster will be built by Miler Coaster, Inc. and cost around $2 million.

PKI Offers ACE Members Additional Benefits In 2000

Cincinnati, OH -- Paramount's Kings Island announced that this year they would expand their offers to members of the American Coaster Enthusiasts (ACE). For the 2000 season all ACE members will receive a discounted admission price of $19.99, when they present their ACE card at any ticket window. This is a saving of $19 off the regular one-day price of $38.99.

In addition the park will continue their morning walk back program for the Beast roller coaster and expand it to include the new Son Of Beast coaster. ACE members who meet at 9:30 a.m. on International Street will be escorted to back to either the Beast or Son Of Beast for the first ride of the day.

Top Disney Exec Spends A Day Visiting Islands Of Adventure

Orlando, FL -- According to the Orlando Sentinel, Walt Disney CEO Michael Eisner was found touring Universal's newest theme park Islands of Adventure on New Years Day. The paper reported that Eisner spent five hours in the park and was accompanied by 20 people on a VIP tour.

The group sampled a variety of the attractions at Islands Of Adventure including The Amazing Adventures of Spiderman, Incredible Hulk Coaster, Dueling Dragons, Jurassic Park River Adventure and Dudley Do Right's Ripsaw Falls. According to the report Eisner choose not to ride either of the parks two roller coasters.

Cedar Point Announces Coastermania 2000 At No Coaster Con

Sandusky, OH -- Cedar Point officials announced the details for this year's Coastermania 2000 event at this past weekends ACE "No Coaster Con" event. Coastermania will take place at Cedar Point on Friday, June 2. The event is open to all members of an official roller coaster club.

Tickets to Coastermania are $24 for Adults and $10 for Children. A special two-day ticket will be offered for $51. This year's tentative schedule of Coastermania events is as follows:

7:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. Exclusive ride time on Cedar Point's newest roller coaster Millennium Force and Raptor.

2:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. Lunch at Point Pavilion.

10:30 p.m. - 12:00 a.m. Exclusive ride time on Mantis.

11:00 p.m. - 1:00 a.m. Exclusive ride time on Magnum XL-2000.

Like in previous years Cedar Point will also offer discounted $8 (per person) rides on the Ripcord from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. and for $10 (per person) from 12 noon until 4:00 p.m. Ripcord participants must ride in-groups of three to maximize capacity.

Holiday World Announces Stark Raven Mad 2000 Event

Santa Claus, IN -- Calling all wooden coaster fans. Holiday World and Splashin' Safari announced this year's plans for the annual Stark Raven Mad coaster event, which will take place over two-days this year. The event, which is traditionally held in June, will occur on Friday, May 5, the night before the park's opening and continue on May 6, the park's opening day.

This year's two-day event will also include exclusive ride time on the park's much-anticipated new CCI-built wooden coaster, The Legend.

In order to be eligible to register for Stark Raven Mad you must be a member of an official roller coaster club. For more details on Stark Raven Mad you can contact Holiday World at 1-800-GOSANTA or visit the parks website.

Cedar Point Attendance Declines In 1999

Sandusky, OH -- An article in the Sandusky Register on January 7, reported tha6t attendance at Cedar Point fell 3 percent in 1999, compared to figures from 1998. According to Amusement Business Magazine Cedar Point's estimated attendance for 1999 was 3.3 million, which was second to their nearest competitor Paramount's Kings Island whose attendance was estimated to be 3.325 million.

Alexandria, VA -- The final nominations for the 2000 IAAPA Applause Award have been given out to Blackpool Pleasure Beach in Great Britain, Hersheypark in Hershey, PA, and Parc Asterix in France.

Disney-MGM 'Backstage Pass' To Give Guests a Behind-the-Scenes Look

Lake Buena Vista, FL -- 'Backstage Pass' opens to guests this month and gives them the chance to experience some behind-the-scenes magic at the Disney-MGM Studios. Visitors will see a blue screen demonstration where an audience volunteer helps create a "Home Improvement" scene by taking on Tim Allen in a nailing contest. They will also tour the production catwalk where they might even see actual TV or film production taking place on working soundstages.
