San Antonio, TX -- Based on the classic Hanna-Barbera cartoon character, Scooby-Doo, and the Mystery Inc. gang - Shaggy, Velma, Daphne and Fred - will come to Six Flags Fiesta Texas in the new, interactive dark ride, Scooby-Doo Ghostblasters...The Mystery of the Haunted Mansion.
After the addition of 16 new rides and attractions over three years, combined with an impressive international show package this year, Six Flags Fiesta Texas now debuts a new type of family-fun entertainment. This attraction won the "Best New Children's Ride or Attraction" at the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) 2000 Awards.
"This interactive adventure is an entirely new concept for us at Fiesta Texas and one that we believe will be fun for the entire family to enjoy together. By combining this new type of ride experience with the popularity of such a recognizable character as Scooby-Doo, we feel 2002 will be one of our best years ever!" said Six Flags Fiesta Texas Vice President and General Manager Melinda Ashcraft.
Called in to investigate mysterious happenings, Scooby-Doo and the mystery-solving gang look to passengers to help them rid the spooky mansion of its ghostly inhabitants. As guests climb into a replica of the Mystery Machine, they're led through 15 dark and spooky scenes.
Lurking behind every corner, ghosts and other ghoulish creatures will keep passengers on the edge of their seats as they trek through the haunted mansion. Equipped with their ghost zapper fright light, passengers may blast their way through each scene, zapping ghosts, trying to rid them from the mansion while helping Scooby-Doo and the gang.
Scooby-Doo Ghostblasters is the newest addition to Six Flags Fiesta Texas' ride lineup for the 2002 season. Located in Fiesta Bay Boardwalk, this new attraction allows guests to zap targets in an interactive adventure, featuring state-of-the-art animation, lighting and sound.
Seating four passengers per unit, ten ride units on an electric drive track take riders through 15 unique scenes with elaborate surroundings. Each vista features a different theme and unique dˇcor including special effects and glow-in-the-dark elements. Rooms like the Hall of Mirrors and the Dungeon Laboratory feature a variety of interactive surprises that will keep guests on their toes.
As they coast along through the ride, passengers use a ghost zapper to blast the apparitions as they appear. A scoring console will keep guests' scores to determine who zapped the most ghosts. Six Flags Fiesta Texas is thrilled to have Scooby-Doo, Shaggy, Daphne, Velma and Fred here for 2002!
