Park Visitor Killed on Shockwave Roller Coaster

Doswell, VA -- An accident at approximately 8:45 p.m. Monday evening on the Shockwave roller coaster at Paramount's Kings Dominion amusement park resulted in the death of one park visitor.

A park spokesperson confirmed the death as a result of the accident, but declined to offer any details.

The Shockwave is a stand-up roller coaster built by coaster designer Togo. The coaster is 95-feet high and features one inversion and a top speed of 50 mph.

Monday's fatality was the first on this attraction.
