Millennium Mania Runs Wild At Cedar Point

Sandusky, OH -- Thrill-seekers rejoice! Cedar Point amusement park/resort recently announced the addition of six special event days for the 2000 season. Named Millennium Mania, this first-time event is for adventure-seekers who want extra "ride time" on five of the park's most popular scream machines.

Due to the incredible popularity of Millennium Force and the park's array of thrilling rides, Cedar Point will be open for Millennium Mania from 4-10 p.m. on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, Sept. 6-8 and 13-15. Only the following extreme rides will be open: Cedar Point's new 310-foot-tall, 93-mph Millennium Force giga-coaster, North America's tallest and fastest roller coaster; Magnum XL-200, voted the "Best Steel Roller Coaster in the World" for three consecutive years; Raptor, the high-flying inverted roller coaster; stand-up thriller Mantis; and Power Tower, the 300-foot-tall adrenaline machine.

"Millennium Mania is the ultimate event for people who crave excitement," said Don Miears, executive vice president and general manager of Cedar Point. "Response to our new Millennium Force has been overwhelming. Imagine coming to the park and being able to ride Millennium Force, Magnum, Raptor, Power Tower and Mantis as much as you want. It is a great way to get your fill of thrills!"

Attendance will be limited so guests can get the maximum amount of rides possible. Admission is only $19 for guests 48 inches or taller. Season and Combo Passes will not be honored for this special event. Guests must be at least 54 inches or taller to ride Millennium Force, Raptor and Mantis; 52 inches or taller to ride Power Tower; and at least 48 inches tall to ride Magnum XL-200. Guests under 48 inches tall may attend for free, but will not be able to experience the rides.

In addition to the five thrilling rides, Coasters restaurant and a few other food stands and carts will be open. Plus, Park Plaza, which will be selling a limited-edition Millennium Mania T-shirt, and some games will also be in operation.

The Radisson Harbour Inn will be open on all nights of Millennium Mania. Some of Cedar Point's other resort hotels, the Hotel Breakers and Breakers Express, will be open on Friday nights. The Camper Village RV campground will also be open on Friday nights.

Tickets for this unprecedented event can be purchased early on the Internet at www.cedarpoint.com through Aug. 28 or at the park on the day of the event.
