Santa Claus, IN -- Perfect weather conditions, along with enthusiastic word-of-mouth about The Legend roller coaster combined Saturday to attract a record number of visitors to Holiday World & Splashin' Safari.
A total of 15,360 Guests visited the parks on Saturday, topping the standing record-which had been set the previous Saturday-by more than 2,600 people.
"With Saturday's total, we were also able to set a new record for number of Guests in a single week," says the parks' president, Will Koch. "We hosted nearly 57,000 visitors last week. And a huge thanks goes out to all our Hosts and Hostesses, who took wonderful care of all those families."
Koch credits the parks' reputation for being friendly, safe and clean, along with the addition of The Legend wooden roller coaster this year for the surge in attendance. "Plus our free, unlimited soft drinks program," says Koch. "We've received a mountain of letters and emails thanking us for providing families with plenty to drink all day long. The good-will generated by offering free soft drinks this season has been fantastic."
Holiday World & Splashin' Safari are open daily through August 20. Both parks will then be open weekends through Labor Day. Following several weekends of private company buy-outs, Holiday World will re-open to the public on weekends beginning September 24 through October 8.
