Coaster Riding Contest to Celebrate The Giant Dipper's 75th

Santa Cruz, CA -- The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is seeking twenty coaster loving contestants to ride the legendary Giant Dipper roller coaster 75 times for the chance to win a 2-day trip for two to New York City.

The contest is sponsored by KBWB Channel 20 in San Francisco to celebrate the Giant Dipper's 75th birthday.

Individuals interested in entering the contest may do so by visiting the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk web site at http://www.beachboardwalk.com.

The twenty finalists who will ride the Giant Dipper will be chosen at random. Finalists will win one seat in the riding contest, 2 all-day passes to the boardwalk, an overnight stay at the Santa Cruz Holiday Inn and an invitation for you and a guest to the VIP party prior to the contest.

The Giant Dipper is the 7th oldest operating roller coaster in the U.S. The classic wooden coaster web built in 1924 by Fred Church. The coaster is 70 feet tall and reaches speeds of up to 55 mph. Over 4.5 million people have ridden the coaster since it opened 75 years ago.
