Fun Fair Park Moving To New Location

Baton Rouge, LA - When Fun Fair Park reopens for the 1999 season it will not only have a new name, but a new location as well. Park officials announced last month that they are moving the park to a new 13-acre location next to the Blue Bayou Water Park.

The park is slated to open in it's new location in late-June and will be renamed Dixie Landin', according to Sam B. Haynes, owner of the Blue Bayou Water Park and Fun Fair. The park will be themed after Louisiana culture and feature three areas, Cottonport, Fun Fair and Sugarland.

Dixie Landin' will feature several new attractions, in addition to the rides relocated from the old Fun Fair Park.

A new roller coaster named the Ragin' Cajun, was purchased from a theme park in Wales. The coaster a Vekoma Boomerang, will feature a 124-foot drop that will send riders upside down six times in under a minute. The roller coaster has already arrived on site and it is currently being put together.

Other new attractions for the park include The Splinter, a water flume ride. An antique car ride, and a train that will run around the park's perimeter. The train is being relocated from it's current home at the Baton Rouge Zoo.

The Blue Bayou Water Park opens for the season on May 28. Dixie Landin' will open by early summer. A separate admission ticket will be required for both of the parks.
