UK Theme Park Issued Noise Abatement Order

Straffordshire, UK -- A judge issued an order today instructing Alton Towers theme park to limit the noise generated from its operations.

Stephen and Suzanne Roper, who live 100 yards from Alton Towers, filed suit against the park last month, claiming that the noise coming from the park is a nuisance and violates a 1990 Environmental Protection act.

The noise abatement order gives the park until November 1 to draft detailed plans to reduce noise from the park's roller coasters and thrill rides. Some local residents complain that the park impacts their quality of life.
