Sandusky, OH -- Snoopy … in ice skates? Guests at Cedar Point will witness the world's only skating beagle when the historic amusement park/resort debuts its NEW "Snoopy Rocks! On Ice," a dazzling PEANUTS ice show, on Saturday, June 22.
Joining Snoopy on the ice at the 850-seat climate-controlled Good Time Theatre will be four other world-famous PEANUTS characters - Charlie Brown, Lucy, Linus and Sally – along with a talented cast of 15 ensemble ice skaters who hail from around the country and will combine entertaining artistry with technical elements to create a high-energy ice extravaganza. The Good Time Theatre is sponsored by FirstEnergy, the official energy supplier of Cedar Point, and was formerly the Cedar Point Cinema, which housed IMAX film presentations at the park since 1975.
"We are thrilled to offer our guests this brand new type of family entertainment," says Daniel Keller, vice president and general manager of Cedar Point. "'Snoopy Rocks! On Ice' will be the first ice show Cedar Point has ever introduced and with the universal appeal of the PEANUTS characters, it will also perfectly complement the park's lineup of award-winning shows."
This NEW 30-minute family oriented ice spectacular will wow audiences with show-stopping skating elements, lavish sets, detailed props, colorful costumes and a lively musical score re-creating favorite PEANUTS classics - on ice - such as Snoopy battling the Red Baron, Charlie Brown's kite-eating tree, Lucy's five-cent psychiatric advice and the Great Pumpkin Patch.
"Although we have produced 'Snoopy Rocks! On Ice' with families in mind, guests of all ages will enjoy this lively skating program," confirms Marje Cronenwett, Cedar Point's vice president of live entertainment. "This is a show that spans generations – just as the PEANUTS characters and comic strip do."
Co-produced by Cedar Point's sister park, Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park, Calif., and Woodstock Ice Productions, Inc. in Santa Monica, Calif., which is headed by Jill Schulz, daughter of the late Charles M. Schulz, and managed by Cedar Point's live entertainment department, "Snoopy Rocks! On Ice" will be presented through Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 2. Karen Kresge, who worked with Charles M. Schulz for 21 years and is the resident choreographer of Schulz's Redwood Ice Arena in Santa Rosa, Calif., will be the director-choreographer of Cedar Point's "Snoopy Rocks! On Ice."
"Snoopy Rocks! On Ice" can been seen on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays at 1 p.m., 3 p.m., 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.; and on Saturdays at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 3 p.m., 5 p.m., 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. The show will not be presented on Wednesdays.
