Golfers Wanted For American Red Cross Minature Golf Challenge

Sandusky, OH -- Grab your clubs, your sunglasses and your favorite pair of plaid pants and get ready for an afternoon of miniature golf. The 11th annual American Red Cross Miniature Golf Challenge at Cedar Point amusement park/resort, voted the "Best Amusement Park in the World" for four consecutive years by Amusement Today newspaper, is set to tee off on Wednesday, May 8 at 4:30 p.m., with registration beginning at 4 p.m. This fun and friendly competition will help raise money for the Firelands Chapter of the American Red Cross.

Located adjacent to Cedar Point, Challenge Park offers guests many different and exciting ways to spend their day. Challenge Racing features two action-packed individual race tracks to choose from, while Challenge Golf delights golfers with two 18-hole miniature golf courses. The towering RipCord Skycoaster sends its flyers soaring through the air at incredible speeds and amazing heights. (RipCord will not be open during this event. The Grand Prix track will be open from 6-8 p.m. Riders must be at least 16 years old. Proper ID required.)

The tournament will be a four-person, 36-hole scramble with a shotgun start at 4:30 p.m. Teams of four can enter the challenge for $100 or individuals can enter for $25 each. Individuals will be placed on a team. Teams can compete in a skins game for an additional fee of $10 per team. Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams, plus the total score of each team will be randomly combined with a mystery team to compete for
additional prizes.

For those who prefer to cheer on their favorite team instead of competing, a $5 purchase of three raffle tickets will gain complementary admission to the event. A raffle will be held for the chance to win a Cedar Point getaway package. This year's prize is valued at more than $500! The winner will receive an overnight stay in a Horizon Suite in Breakers Tower, which includes a Jacuzzi and panoramic views of Lake Erie, on Friday, June 7, along with four one-day admission tickets to the amusement park. Winners need not be present to win.

Businesses and individuals looking for a way to contribute to the fund-raiser can do so by sponsoring one or more of the holes at Challenge Golf. For a $25 sponsorship fee, the name of the business or individual will be featured on a special sign placed at the tee-off point of one of the holes.

A snack bar serving food and beverages will be provided. An adult should accompany children under the age of 12.

Sign-up sheets, hole sponsorship information and raffle tickets for the Cedar Point getaway package are available at the American Red Cross office at 300 Central Ave. in Sandusky.
