FLYING COASTER FOR PCW IN 2001

There have been some rumours going around that Paramount Canada's Wonderland in Toronto, Ontario will be getting a Stealth clone in 2001. This may happen for three reasons:

1. PCW's attendance has dropped, the park chain has a reputation of giving a park that is dropping a new coaster, including PGA.

2. PCW is obbsessed with variety, they will definetly not build a coaster type that is the same as one they already have cause they claim to have North America's largest variety of coasters (Mine Train, Wildcat, Corkscrew, Wild mouse, Inverted, Suspended, Stand-up, Forward-backward looper, wooden coaster, children's wooden coaster, children's steel coaster) as you can see they never produce two of the same types of coasters.

3. PCW get's a roller coaster every second year (1999 they got the Fly (steel wild mouse) 2001 may very will be Stealth

4. Because of the unique nature of the Paramount/Vekoma partnership, Paramount will have exclusive rights to exploit Flying Dutchman technology for a while.

5. Wonderland needs a ride to really be the symbol of their park. (The Beast - PKI, Stealth - PGA, Superman - SFMM)

Keep in mind this is just a rumour, but I pray it's true. PCW is my home park, it would be great to see it get some sort of ride that has rarely been seen before!

Oh, it's gonna happen! by Northrider at 4/2/00 8:28:42 PM

I've been pondering the idea as to what they are going to get, and I've narrowed it down to a 200+feet hyper, or the Stealth. Wonderland won't add a hyper in 2001, because Darien recently put in Superman, and the two parks are too close. In looking at Wonderland's track record for Coasters, it's very apparent that they like to add things that nicely conform to the existing layout of the park. They don't like to add things that look obscure, and span out large areas of land. We've seen it with The last three coasters, Vortex, Topgun, and The fly. They love cramming things into places that you would never think could hold a coaster.

That chunk of land behind the Minebuster bordering the lake, and the concert theatre is just dying to be the home of a Stealth. I've seen pics of the one at PGA, and it has some exposure to water on one side. I'm hoping that if they put one in Wonderland it won't be a clone; in fact, I don't know if it could be. I hope that they take what they learned from PGA's version, and create a better one with more rider capacity, and a higher lift hill.

Stealth's gonna happen, I know it. I bet they're busy right now in the Vekoma manufacturing plant making the track! Either way, we'll know by around June, because those things don't just go up overnight!

Actually we'll know in september, that is when PCW confirms the new rides and atractions for the next year. You're definetly right about Wonderland having compact coasters, i mean the Fly, in 1998 I didn't even know there was any grass there, then boom, 1999 they have a coaster. Too bad it had to be a really bad wild mouse. A hyper would, as you said, be way to spread out for PCW's liking. Therefore we are running out of options it's either Stealth or a Vertical drop coaster! There is also a pice of land to build a coaster behind the spinovator in the Medieval Faire section of the park, the land is near Dragon Fyre coasster, Speed city raceway and Drop Zone. I'm sooo excited, it will really make up for this year's low quality attractions: Cliffhanger (a Gravitron type ride seen at carnivals) and Scoody-Doo's Haunted Mansion (a haunted mansion for KIDS)

I hope you are right about it being a different layout than Stealth, but I am doubtful, PCW's latest roller coasters are clones The Bat (Vekoma Boomerang), Skyrider (King Cobra at PKI) Vortex (Top Gun at PKI), Top Gun (clone of a coaster in Germany, forget the name), Ghoster Coaster (Beastie at PKI) as you can see a large number of PCW's coasters are copies, but hopefully that will change!

Yes this is most likely to happen. I have been at the park a few times this winter and I was told to look out for a large project for 2001. Of coarse they probably dont know, but i was told by year round staff from the attractions department. They told me this after I spotted SOB and Stealth Calendars in their offices and then i popped the question. Lets hope we get Stealth.

Top Gun at PKI is a clone of Vortex at PCW and Top Gun at PCW is a Vekoma SLC

"but i was told by year round staff from the attractions department."

attractions department? i hardly think there is one of those. and i dont think if there were they would walk up to a complete stranger and tell them what the park plans are for.

And if calanders are a clue too, then PKD must be gettting the SOB and Stealth too. its a bit far streached

Actually, there is an attractions department in the human resources building. There is even a sign , with an info desk. It also consists of a few offices. And I asked the question to someone who has been there for 5 years now who started off as a ride op. Now he works full time and all year, and yes he and others dont know what the attraction is. All I said is that he told me it's something big. It also is possible for PKD to get one of these coasters, but I think most people agree that PCW is in need for one far more. I think PKD will get a dropzone and a faceoff, something like that. But I hope they get something far more large.

You got it Pontiac! by ROXY ROLLER at 4/3/00 7:19:02 PM

You have re-iterated what I have cited in the past.

Well done!

Yes, Wonderland will be the next recipient of STEALTH.

you can hope, but i doubt they'll get a big project. i agree it will be a dropzone and vekoma boomerang, they are the only paramount park that dosen't have a drop zone. besides they already got Volcano, so a major project is a while down the road. PCW is desperate for a major project, there latest coaster "The Fly" was junk, and Drop Zone and Top Gun before that were not the greatest either, let's just hope...
